In this seminar group, we discuss how theology and liturgy are connected (lex orandi - lex credendi). What theology lies behind and is reflected in our liturgies? We are happy to use (recent) articles or books as a starting point for discussion in the group.

The work of the seminar group is based on presentations or written contributions (papers) from the participants, and from relevant literature sources that are read during the year. Topics discussed include practical-theological understandings of worship music, socially orientated research that reflects on forms of reception and opportunities related to music as well as ethnomusical research in various fields. The group does not limit itself to Nordic conditions, but the conversations mainly revolve around how to better understand the importance of music in the liturgy, and how to interpret and communicate the church's teachings and theology in time and space through music.

Welcome to our seminary group. This is an English-speaking group, since we have members from all Nordic countries.
The subjects for this year (2026) is:
Confession and Confession of Sin (Prayer for Forgiveness)
Starting from the idea of celebrating worship “in our own languages,” we can look at “private” confession (bikt in Swedish) and the general confession of sin (prayer for forgiveness) and consider how the “language” of pastoral care is expressed in our different liturgical orders, and in what ways this may be a language that is understood by our contemporaries in the Nordic countries.
The Language of the Liturgist (officiant)
How does the liturgist, officiant, the worship leader, and the various people acting in the Mass/Service speak and move? Is there a liturgical revolution taking place in our time? We share experiences and tips with one another.

The seminar group will focus on movement, song and music in our liturgical language, the congregation, and the wordless language of the Body of Christ. We will explore how scenography and the body fit into worship, drawing inspiration from the conference theme. The seminar group will draw on different perspectives to address the issues raised in the conference lectures and, as in previous years, will alternate between movement and reflection.
Participants do not need to have previous experience of movement and dance in a church context, but should be curious and willing to explore. Please send texts, reflections and current research on movement in worship, so that we can share and discuss these during the seminar.

Liturgical and church music education and training
In this seminar group we will work with how we educate and form people liturgically and church musically. We will work theoretically, didactically and experientially with liturgical and church music education. This will be done through joint discussions and sparring, exercises, presentation and discussion of specific teaching material and reading of common articles and books. The seminar group is aimed at anyone with an interest in teaching, education and communication.
